I dedicate my poetry and art to Karen
Grassel, of Little House on the Prarie,of whom is an inspira-tion to
me.
I had seen her in one of the series, and was taken by her, her voice
and beauty. Being in Texas, 2,000 miles then, I soon traveled to
LosAngeles never to imagine 5 years later I would meet her. I had
became a contractor of ceramic tile, and known to be an artist of.
She had called me to inquire about working at her home as she was
having tile done to the interior. Not realising it was her , until
arriving to give her an estimate. I fell in Love, and almost
speechless. I continued in a proffessional manner. She introduced me
to her interior decarator, Frabicio, whom was to cor-ordinate the
work as there were other trades also. She had accepted my proposal
for the job when I gave her the bid. I was to expect frabicio to call
when to get underway. Two months had passed and thought she changed
her mind, then suddenly I recieved her call again, but to ask why I
did not want to work for her, and explained frabicio never notified
me, and would be pleased to be the one to do the work. We met that
evening, and it was arranged to begin. I was esstatic with whom I
would be working for, and would do my best for her- so she would
see.
She gave me a key to the house so I could come in and work without
her having to let me in, and lock up when I left as she was'nt always
there.
One afternoon she came home and admiring the work and progress saw
how hard I was working told me " Roy your working so hard, take a
break and go into the refrigerator and make you some lunch", I
explained that I would'nt go into the icebox and would go out for a
sandwich. Then she told me to get myself a beer and take a break, and
even go jump into the pool and make myself at home. I explained it
would be unproffessional and couldn't. I know I dissapointed her, but
even though I had reached an exclusiveness in my work, finding myself
with all clientel,as such, she was the most important to me, I was In
Love and fallen into Love. I could not bring myself to tell her so,
but through my work. I do wish she knew, perhaps she did. I really
felt she did, but we both of differnt worlds- I had my chance.
It has been as long, and once again I am 2,000 miles from her. I hope
she see's my dedication to her and the poem "Special" is of Yellow
roses. This particular poem is in the National Library of Congress,
and can be seen at www.poetry.com under artist Roy Cruz. Having met,
Love is never lost, but grows--- I Miss You and Love you, Karen...,
