This document will attempt to walk you through the steps
necessary to get your Windows95 computer to dial into Networks On-Line. You may need your
Windows95/98 CDROM or Disk Set.
1. Open the My Computer icon on
your Windows95 desktop. Open Dial up Networking. If you do not see Dial up
Networking then it is not installed. Please see the document titled Installing Dial up Networking.
2. Double click the Make New Connection icon. When prompted, name the
connection "NOL". The Select a modem box should contain the name
of your modem, if not you need to select one from the list or install one. Enter in
one of our access numbers. Do not fill in
the area code in the box provided. Instead, all 10 digits should be entered in the
telephone number box. Failure to do this may prevent you from being able to successfully
connect. Click Next, and then click Finish to save the new connection.
Now, your new dial-up connection needs to be configured.

Dial-Up Networking Properties
1. You should now see "NOL" in the
Dial up Networking folder. Click the icon with your RIGHT mouse button and from the
popup menu select Properties. You also get to the properties by clicking once on
the icon, then selecting File->Properties from the window menu. You should now be in
the "General" page for the NOL connection. Double check the phone number
and be sure not to have the Use country and area code checked.
Now, click Server Types.
2.The only options checked should be Enable Software Compression and TCP/IP.
Now click the TCP/IP Settings button.
3. The first option should read, "Server assigned IP Address". Change
the second option to read "Specify Nameserver Addresses". Enter the
following information in the spaces provided. Click OK when done.
Primary DNS: 207.91.130.4 Secondary DNS:
207.91.130.6
Click OK to finalize these new settings. That should be all that is needed to get
online. It may be a good idea to create a shortcut on the Windows Desktop for your new
connection. This can be done by clicking the "Networks On-Line" icon with the
RIGHT mouse button and selecting "Create A Shortcut".
4. To connect to the internet, double click the "short cut to NOL" icon, and
enter your username and password, then click "CONNECT". After the connection is
established, minimize the connection window if it remains open. You should now be able to
use your Web Browser, Email Client, or other internet connectivity Software. If you
get an error while attempting to log on, you may want to check that your Windows Network Properties are configured correctly.
